Bold Bouquets {Bright Done Right}

Like most wedding planners, I’m obsessed with flowers. I personally love soft colors and fluffy, feminine flowers (peonies and garden roses, of course). Bold bouquets that consist of multiple colors, deep or bright, are something you have to be careful with. I support bold bouquets, but they have to be what I like to call “bright done right”. Although they may be composed of 5 colors, when done right, something just makes sense and ties everything together. This is something that is difficult to explain, so check out some fab pics instead. These types of bouquets are so fun for a Spring or Summer wedding!

Something Blue {Traditions}

We are all familiar with the old tradition of “Some old, something new, something borrowed, something blue”. A lot of brides aren’t adhering to this tradition like they used to, but I believe this is a tradition that isn’t going anywhere anytime soon! The first three are usually the easiest, something blue can be a little more challenging!

There are so many fun ways to wear your “something blue”, though. Most are just a fresh twist on old ideas, which I love. Either way, check out some of my favs below!

Cocktail Rings:

Cocktail rings are super trendy right now. They go hand in hand (hehe) with the current vintage theme, and I just love them!

Soleful details:

These are just plain adorable, and can easily be done with some super glue and scrapbooking letters or rhinestones!

Garters:

This idea is nothing knew, but garters are cuter than they have ever been. The are gorgeous, fancy, and very detailed (unlike the old ones that all just had a small bow).

And, of course, fancy panties:

No explanation needed on this one. Put something pretty under that gorgeous dress!

Alli & Charles {Natural & Flowy at The Powel Crosley Estate}

Alli and Charles Trippy are a super fun couple. They have a very unique job and life. Alli and Charles work for YouTube and have been posting a video about their lives everyday for over 3 years now! They have a pretty huge fan base that watches their videos daily.

Alli & Charles were married at the Powel Crosley Estate in Sarasota, Fl. If you haven’t seen this venue, you must check it out! When it comes to the wedding decor, Alli wanted to keep everything very natural. They felt it was also important that the wedding come off as fun and relaxed. Alli’s dress was soft and flowy, yet very texturized (Vera Wang’s Diana…swoon!). We basically worked with that concept. Alli loved bells of Ireland because of the natural flow and texture that they have to them, so we incorporated them throughout. The lighter shade of green really accented the eggplant bridesmaid dresses well. We continued that color scheme with the also very texturized, green hypericum berries and baby green hydrangeas in the bridesmaid bouquets. For the escort card display, they didn’t want to waste paper and wanted it to go with the natural aspect of the concept, so I came up with the idea using actual leaves. The leaves came off of Alli’s parent’s tree, which I thought was really special. The escort card display was inside the house, where the window sills and fireplace were covered with moss and candles. The fireplace inside of the Powel Crosley Estate is stunning! I could go on and on about this wedding; the concept was so fun and unique, but I’ll go ahead and share some of the picture with you!

Danielle & Ron {A Vintage Soiree, Birdies & Skeleton Keys}

Danielle is the craftiest bride I’ve had thus far. (She may have some competition from one of my March 2013 brides…stay tuned for that one next year.) She would see an idea in a magazine, or online (like the adorable “Meant to Bee” favors and the “i do” cupcake flags) and would have her version perfectly executed within days. She also loves thrifting, which I just so happen to love as well! We went from store to store looking for “treasures”, as Danielle calls them. We were on the hunt for the perfect vintage suitcase to be used as a card box and we were beyond excited when we finally found it (see below). My favorite details were without a doubt the bride’s hair and make-up by J & A Makeup Artistry. It tied the vintage look together perfectly!

Allison & Eric {Citrus & Gray, A Wedding Their Way!}

First of all, I’m aware my blog has been severely neglected. To be honest, it took me a couple of times to get the password right (yes, it had been THAT long). Between our fall wedding season, engagement season (new client time) and spring wedding season, we have been busy busy! With that said, I’ve decided to share the past seven months or so that have kept me so busy. I usually don’t blog my weddings (I’m not sure why, really), but as a treat to you all (hehe), I’ve decided to start doing so! What better place to begin than with this past fall wedding season?

My first wedding of the fall 2011 season was Allison & Eric on Marco Island, Fl (Photographed by Nicole Inskip Photography). I really loved this couple. You might hear me say this a lot, because I really love all of my couples, but Allison and Eric are just really awesome people (and Allison is the most organized person I’ve ever met). Let me explain! Their wedding wasn’t very “by the book”, and I have SO much appreciation for that. They wanted their wedding to represent them, and it definitely did! Let’s start with the wedding party. The bride’s side was not limited to a specific gender, nor was the grooms! Allison had her brother as her “best man”, and Eric had his two sisters stand on his side as his “maids of honor”. Allison also had her dad and mom walk her down the aisle. The icing on the cake at the ceremony (well, for me anyway), was their two brothers officiating the wedding together. It was so sweet and sincere…and just plain adorable!

The unique details didn’t stop there! Allison loves Kettle Corn popcorn, so they had fresh Kettle corn popping during cocktail hour for their guests’ enjoyment. It was a hit! (I may or may not have eaten a box, or two.) Their wedding cake was made entirely of rice crispy treats. (Uncertain of what this would look like? See below.) With the bride being vegan and the groom being lactose intolerant, a vegan crispy cake was perfect for them, and it was way cool looking!! What else? Citrus color shoes galore on the bridesmaids, sparkly hot pink shoes on the bride, and converse on the groom and groomsmen. I could go on, but you definitely get the idea of how fun and unique this couple is! I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking!

The Pefect Pair {Bridal Shoes}

Bridal shoes can provide an opportunity for the bride to make a dramatic statement, in a subtle way. From satin and crystals to hot pink and sparkles, it’s up to the bride how dramatic she wants that statement to be. They are also just a super fun addition to pictures!

The feather detail on these shoes is actually a clip. These clips can be added almost anywhere, on any shoe, to sass them up a bit!

Wonderful Winter Wedding {Details}

I love the idea of a winter wedding theme, even in Florida. Although it’s currently 80 degrees here, there’ something so appealingly festive about a winter themed wedding. I’ve found a few gem details recently that I just LOVE for this theme. So, of course, I have to share them!

We’ll start with what’s possibly my favorite-

White Branch Drink Stirrers

These little cuties are an awesome detail. Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest impact. I’m not saying these stirrers will be the focal point of your wedding, but I’m thinking the guests will definitely be chatting about how cute and unique they are!

An “Icey” Favor, Rock Candy

Rock candy would be a super cute addition to a tablescape! The little treats just scream wintry, the clear or blue ones that is. Maybe they don’t scream it, but they remind me of ice! A candy stick at each setting would be an excellent winter wedding detail!

White Pine Plates

More frozen trees? Yes, please! These plates against a soft gray table cloth…swoon! Hello winter wonderland!

Hot Chocolate Station

Who doesn’t love hot chocolate?! Instead of a candy, coffee, or dessert station, serve your guests hot chocolate with a schlew of tasty additions. Peppermint hot chocolate, toffee hot chocolate, extra chocolatey hot chocolate…I don’t know how I’d ever decide.

Very Vintage Wedding Hair

I love that the vintage thing is such a huge trend in weddings right now. I’ve always said that I should have been born in another time; maybe the 40′s, but with my Chi, iphone, and a few other necessities. The vintage trend is becoming more and more present in weddings. From the dress, to the decor, and even the hair, the vintage trend is everywhere, even when the theme isn’t vintage related.

I really love the vintage hair look. It’s soft, romantic, elegant and timeless. Side swept do’s and pin up curls is where it’s at, ladies! I am so very thankful that the 80′s-90′s traditional french twist and the let’s just curl everything in sight look is making a strong exit. Don’t get me wrong, curls are never going away. The innocence of them is perfect for almost any bride, but there’s a right way to do them, and a very wrong way. Now I’m rambling, and I really just wanted to share some fabulous hair pics! A bottle of wine that could save your marriage! {Unique Wedding Ceremonies}

I can’t believe it’s been a month since my last post! We are full swing in an amazing fall wedding season here in SWFL, and busier than ever! I cannot wait to share some of these weddings with you all (soon).

I came across something today that made my heart melt just a little bit. I love a unique touch to a wedding ceremony. Traditional ceremonies are lovely, but I just LOVE hearing something clever that I’ve never heard before, which brings me to what I came across today!

I’m going to quote the Edison & Ford Winter Estates’ blog post, so I don’t ruin the story telling with my interpretation.

“Before the ceremony, the bride and groom wrote letters describing all the things they love about each other. During their wedding, officiant David Thompson of BareFoot We Wed, had them place their letters into a small box containing a single bottle of wine. “Keep this bottle in plain sight in your home. Should your marriage ever hit a rough spot, before you make any rash decisions, open the bottle of wine, pour each other a glass, and read your letters,” he said. This wine ceremony had everyone tearing up! “

Don’t you just love that idea?!

Beautiful Bridal Accessories {Stunning Hairpieces}

The old rule book says veils are a must, the blusher and all. Times have changed though. This symbol of purity and modesty isn’t a must anymore, but this doesn’t make those adjective inapplicable to you. Just like the styles and levels of modesty of wedding dresses have changed, so have the accessories. Hair pieces can be the perfect bridal accessories, with details that veils don’t even know about! There are soo many different kinds of hair accessories. Let me treat you eyes to some of the types.

Feathers! Oh how I adore feathers! They are a major trend that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, and I’m definitely okay with that! They create such a soft and romantic feel.
